"Come On Back, Jerre"

Never have I seen a man, love his wife,
the way Bob love[s] Jerre.
He sat by her side, kissed her forehead,
and made her blush- til the very end.
I have never seen such wholesome
beauty, until I witnessed the two of
them kiss for the very first time.
He still looks at her seat, and at
the pretty red bird that flutters by:

"Come on back, Jerre!"

"Come on back, Jerre!"
We're all waiting for you.

A Eulogy for Mom

Some of you know Jerre Jean Hynds Darnell as your coworker. Others know her as your party planner. Some know her as their dance partner. The board of Directors knew her as that fastidious worker. You might have caught her style as she walked the runway at the Country Place fashion show. Maybe you see her in her yard. You might see her praying with her church circle. Many know her as your top secret confidante. Many, many know her as that ravishing beauty. I don't often use the word ravishing, but in Mom's case she is.

But you see, Jerre Jean Hynds Darnell is my Mother!

She bore me, she named me with her heart of hearts husband, and she raised me. My brother and sisters know of what I speak.

Most important to me is that Mom always speaks the truth. Jerre Darnell always tells the truth. That is her way. The truth isn't always the most popular thing we want to hear. Sometimes when she said those truths, it would make me want to run and hide. And she always stuck to her guns. If you fidgeted, she tells you to sit tight. If you tried to pull her away from her important task, she tells you to hold your horses. When conversations become nonsensical, Mom relies on her maternal wisdom. Her truth statements have become pearls in her children's, grandchildren's, and great-grandchildren's lives.

Mom's wisdom, you see, comes back to her. Mom and her steadfast friend, Robert, are blessed with long lives, 67 years of which they have been husband and wife.

What is Mother --
what is Mother,
without her house
and her child?

Her babies are born
and grown in her domicile

Many houses Mom has known
Many seeds she has sown,
Where she settled she made it her own.

As years gathered numbers
some ideals are put to rest
her children, now with children,
are wiser, never alone, at best,
for Mother journeys with us ...

See all their bright little faces
Hear their falsetto voices,
... full of trust, truth, and whim,
Creating such a din.

Thank you all for coming.

The eternal life is all about love; the love of God, love of Jesus, and love of His children one for another.  Now Mom will be in a family reunion for eternity; it is all the believers meeting and greeting one another forever; they will visit her and share and listen to her share, and she will go visit others and do the same; there will be constant visiting and sharing so that all the believers  know one another.  There is no gap between people or between them and Jesus or between them and God.  All and everyone is united in absolute unity, no division among everyone.  She will spend time edifying and caring and being cared for on a continual basis.  There is no need; everything is provided.  She has no want for anything; everything is perfectly secure.  She is with God and all He gives to His children; she has never known the security of God, and we will not know until we are there; she has no doubt; all gaps between her and God are no more.  He is right there; he fills her every moment with total love.
Now Mom is in her new quarters; she is gayly arranging all that is already there for her.  It is everything that she can possibly think of and more, and she is so energetic that she moves from task to task effortlessly with precision.  She is at rest at the same time she is moving; it is all in one; rest and moving.  The food is so delicious that digestion is instant and energy is continuously available.  She is expending no energy to do her chosen tasks and she has complete choices in what she desires to do; she is completely trusted to carry on as she is perfect; her thinking and actions are perfect.  She works at an energizing speed, not tiresome in any way.  Her mind is joyful constantly; people are all around to assist her and encourage her all the time.  She doesn't have a future plan as it all comes as she needs it.  She knows that she will be with Robert because he is her number one forever; their pact was forever and evermore together with the Lord.  People are all together and holding one another and Mom all the time.  She is never alone or lonely not even for a second even though time does not pass anyway.  They all hold one another all the time no matter what they are doing and God and Jesus hold all of them.  She is beginning the new activities of the new everlasting life.  She is not worried about the previous life where all of us remain because she knows it is all handled and worry and lack are not in the new life.

Meditation

Heavenly Father, God the Creator, Almighty One ... today I wonder why I have been so nonspiritual all my life. How did I miss those lessons that explained how our unseen spiritual world is structured?

I remember being a child, happy running and playing all day long. Then I became a young man with deeper thoughts. But somehow I remained shallow, and silly, and without knowledge of wisdom or of workings of the spirit. However, as I got older I did begin praying for wisdom.

For me some of  what I read sticks with me. And, I had read in Proverbs that some things must be prayed for diligently, for instance, wisdom requires much prayer.

I cherish the wisdom that came to me from my prayers. I held wisdom close to my chest to warm my heart, until one day wisdom became part of my heart. It was like a motor turned on, and my body was changed.

But I stopped there for some reason. I suppose I was satisfied with this. It is good to be satisfied with some things. And I lived for many years happy in this, though suspecting I was incomplete.

It turns out, I am given long life; and, I found later as a man becoming a father, that I needed many more skills, like long-suffering, loving-kindness, purity and salvation, and things of the spirit.

It was then I learned how impatient I had become in asking for these spiritual gifts that I thought I was entitled to. I began looking for short-cuts. During this time, it turns out, I prayed most often asking the Holy Spirit to fill me, my wife, and our children.

You see I was confused, not about the Holy Spirit; but, enlightenment still takes much prayer, and patience in obtaining... I forgot the lesson I had learned on Wisdom.

Back then work days were long, bothersome, fractured, rising and falling. It seemed I went to battle everyday. I became very tired of fighting with everyone, everything, and with being angry. I noticed that when in a state of anger, I am furthest one can get from the Father ....

Anger lasted too many years during family raising. I was very bad, judgmental and belligerent, sloven and coward, and often totally outlandish. Seldom was I wise anymore, and again I stood incomplete for many years. I seek another chance for wising up:

Father, make me an instrument of your peace;
Fill me with the white light of the Christ Mind
Make me a good steward of your gifts
Help me to know what I suspect --
That you have filled the world with Mercy, and,
You seek from me fruit of your Spirit,
that you love us all and want us to live.
AMEN.
